Lost at Last an #ootd

Came across some pretty cool pins for my denim jacket at a cute thrift shop downtown. They're by the company Explorer's Press. Its a local company all about customizing and accessorizing your personal items. They have things from pins, to key chains, to patches and couple shirts that I've been eyeing since I bought these pins. Check it out here!

Current obsession:

If you care to read this, I just noticed that this is my 200th post. Excitement! Thanks for looking and reading xxx

Setting the Tone an #ootd

It's been an interesting first week back at uni. I keep reminding myself that I have 3 crazy semesters left and it's going to go by so quickly.
  • Some great advice I took note of in my Product Development class from a professor who I've never had before was "You create your own good luck". I've translated this thought into: You make your own opportunities happen, and if you do it often and do it well the people who notice will see it as luck because they aren't creating those situations for themselves.
  • Having the opportunity to intern for a semester of my degree is a bigger deal then I realized it to be. A reassuring podcast talk that Sophia Amoruso had with her VP of Design, Sarah Wilkinson really made me aware that having a work placement in the industry before graduation is going to really expose me to how things run. Apparently people who aspire to be in fashion can get stuck interning over and over and find it hard to transition into a work situation without being known as an "intern".
  • I'm trying to arrange an event on how to Brand Yourself. I think as a Fashion Student I get lost in the transition of how certain things I'm learning will benefit me in coming years. I want to achieve a high level skill of networking, being able to put myself out there and communicate with people in the industry that I want to work with.
Happy Hump-day.

charm an #ootd

1. Double denim is a thing
2. This backpack brings back so many memories
3. Black on black on grey

Mass manufacturing was actually tolerable today, I didn't completely lose my mind, it helped that a lovely face made cookies, and several lovely faces had candy to share. Slight sweet tooth, but I've got a dentist appointment soon to fix that, well, some of that.

Also, these jeans, yes. On all the levels, yes.

The school year has ended and I can't believe that I am half way though my degree. Makes me wonder if the next 2 years will go by quicker or slower. Quicker I hope.

Fading flowers an #ootd

Jacket, Macy's; Top, H&M; Pants, LOFT; Shoes, XXI Forever; Bag, Bloomingdale's
School has just stared but I can already feel the pressure. I'm staying calm and thinking rationally and realistically. I've been managing my time better and working like a mad woman.

I had to take time out on this day to take an OOTD. I loved my outfit. I was feeling dramatic and wore a little black eye shadow to uni, oh la la.

This past week and a half-ish has been interesting. Lesson learned so far?....

BUT THERE IS STILL GOING TO BE SOMEONE WHO HATES PEACHES"

amen.
For the record, I love peaches. You're peachy...

Little Kate has a lovely blog CLICK HERE so check it out. She is just a little trendy fashion chick who has a really cool style that she blogs about.

Shady matter

These sunglesses, were a steal. $6.80 at of course, Forever 21. I seriously just bought them because I was tired of repping my Uni free-bee sunglasses that all my friends made fun of. Now that I think if it, I was being kinda ridiculous to wear them ALL the time. I'm think about buying another pair of sunglasses, maybe a bit more expensive so that I can alternate between a nicer pair, probably more classic looking and these/ which every other cheap trendy ones I find.

As for the summer dress, the dresses at H&M fit me like a dream. There is something about the way it hugs my waist. The length is perfect the cut is perfect and I could probably wear it everyday of the damn week.
Unfortunately I think it's probably going to be my last wear for this one because I want to purchase some new dresses with a little more detail.

What does your summer time go dress look like? And what shades are you rockin?

My kinda Silverware.

Left to Right
Rose ring from Avon (I don't even know how old this is)
Lotus ring from a flea market in Brooklyn NY
Fox & Navy stone rings from Forever 21
Left to Right
Both silver bands found at my parents work, It just happened to be luck that I love them both
"Humming Bird" ring from my friend who thought it suited my personality (not sure where she bought this from)

I don't think I was ever really into jewelry when I was in High School. I basically stuck to earrings and a bracelet or necklace here or there but nothing to wild. Ever since the summer I graduated high school I became obsessed with silver hand jewelry, in specific, rings. Silver rings especially, to me, add a cool, care free but chic vibe and can make your hands look a bit more interesting.

When I first dove into wearing rings, I was o b s e s s e d with cocktail rings, I still have them all. And I still love a few of them. But as I began to develop my style more I noticed that they weren't such an investment piece as they were just for fun (I'm a huge quality over quantity-kinda shopper). They were getting tarnished easily because I'd wear them in water (washing my hands) and I just didn't like the idea of buying more. I just wanted a few good ones that I could wear all the time.

Since that time I've really gotten my act together and sorted out a good range of silver rings that I can wear everyday and feel as if they have completed my outfit. Of course you're all probably like "But Jess, there's 2 silver rings from XXI?!" well, I couldn't completely cut Forever 21 rings out cold turkey. They are just so lovely! But all the rest are plated silver or are sterling silver or don't tarnish under water. Yay!

Do you prefer gold or silver jewelry? Or colorful?

Kimono Vibes an #ootd

Kimono, XXI; Tank top, Macy's; Leggings, Aritzia; Lipstick, Ruby Woo by MAC

I've had this Kimono for a little while now and it's been a really good purchase. I can throw it on top of almost any outfit to look dressed up and trendy. I can wear it will my wool hat, jeans and a plain shirt and look super city chic. Here I've just worn it with a lacey black top and leggings to keep the focus on the Kimono.

There are definitely a lot on the market right now. Summer time colored one especially. Do you own a Kimono style cardigan?
