Set No Path an #ootd

The obvious becomes more apparent when you experience certain situations first hand. It's taken me a long time to understand that you don't have to be into fashion to be in the fashion industry. A company is comprised of so many aspects down to technical and strategic business elements. "Straight and narrow is not the only path to success" (Sophia Amoruso) It takes a couple shitty jobs and experiences to land "the one". For all we know, the one job we strive for, our dream job, may only turn out to be temporary. There's a reason why investments can mean higher risk. (To be continued.)

Roll with the punches an #ootd

I've very lucky that I'm taking on a 4 year bachelors degree program, in a field that I've been passionate about since I was a child. I realize that some people who don't go through this have a harder time with routine or might not be as disciplined. This also has to do with who they are and how they grew up. This doesn't mean that people who don't go to school can't be as successful because that's not the case at all, but recently, I was reading #GIRLBOSS and Amoruso was talking about how she wishes she could have had the will power to go to university (but her not going allowed her to build her empire). This made me think about how stressful school is right now, but also how the grades that I'm getting and the work that I'm assigned is not the be and end all of my fashion career & how one technical outerwear jacket does not define my capabilities as a fashion designer.

Positive thoughts only an #ootd

I'm not exactly a natural born net-worker, but I've recently began to pull together different moments from the past three years of my life that have happened due to the connections I've made with my peers and faculty. Sometimes I think people pursuing an education forget that their professors are the first connection to industry and that their peers are second. I was lucky enough to make a friend who connected me with an industry level job this summer, I have a good shot at getting my work practicum placement at the 1st company of my choice because of another amazing friend and earlier this summer I got to experience an educational adventure in New York and Italy because of a faculty suggestion.

The other day my friend said to me, (loosely phrased like this) "It's because I'm friends with you that I know people in all 4 of the years of this degree." I feel so accomplished when I receive comments like this. I just feel like i'm meant to do this even more.

You know it's shot on an iPhone when

Over Exposed with a side of Kate an #ootd

There was still some Summer vibes in the air today but I couldn't resist getting my new shawl from Aritzia out. Photos are high on the exposure scale, but don't worry, I'm teaching myself Photoshop and hopefully getting a fancy camera soon.

The Cut.

After the numerous times I said that I would never cut my hair short again....I did.
But I have a legit reason, I swear!

You see, the ends of my hair, my ombre, my dip dye-whatever you want to call it, were a) Just too damaged, b) Never felt like being in a curl, and c) It was beginning to be such a pain to take care of. After I got back from my trip to the Big Apple I felt like my wardrobe got a boost, my attitude got a shake and I just felt like I needed to do something crazy with my appearance, but not too wild. So I did what any girl does after a major break up (I was devastated to leave New York, it was very serious, I was truly heart broken) I changed my hair.

And I love it. The length was mostly inspired by Summer and my home girl, Kylie Jenner. (Yes, I  do refer to Kylie as my home girl)

So here it is, my new hair. The before and after:
